fashion week madness

anand kabra

Hello helloo...i've been away at lakme fashion week, so my posts are going to be short spurts...but there are a few designers that showed promise. Day 1 designer Anand Kabra was a clear winner. It's like he finally evolved, his collection was the saving grace of day 1. I liked his summer jackets in neutral tones layered over short dresses . Day 2 Nachiket Barve finally showed signs of moving away from his previous collections, showing soft layers in a myraid of beautiful colours and textures, mosaic like applique on dresses and jackets is what caught my fancy. Arjun Saluja did an extension of his fall line with skeletal abstract prints and his pleated shirts and pencil skirts. All in all still awaiting to see something outstanding. Must mention newbie Paromita Banerjee, her sheer over solid prints dresses and checked jackets is what I want for my summer wardrobe.

spring update

Spring/Summer 2010 is here, and making a start at New York Fashion week is designer Prabal Gurung. This Singapore born, Nepalese designer started his fashion career in New Delhi, studying at NIFT and working with Manish Arora. And now he's already making heads turn at NY Fashion week with his fall collection. Inspired by gift wrappings and packaging the collection is full of luxurious cocktail dresses in satin drapes adorned with pretty bows. A well edited, collection, very precise and Prabal surely delivers the goods with this one.

hot label

Watch out for Middle East designer Tahir Sultan. Although he launched his collection in summer at Delhi, I just checked out his fall collection at The Bungalow, in Mumbai. His clothes exude simplicity, yet make a strong statement. He adds an edginess to classic pieces. I liked his versions of cotton shirt dresses and the checked wrap jackets.

street style

Check out my favourite street style looks from
I love how she has made use of her torn tights, by pairing it with knee high socks and boots and making it look cool and edgy. And the shiny blue dress adds a dose of 60's chic.
Look how she's taken bright printed pants from Prada SS09 and teamed it with something so unexpected-A Parisian chic cape style jacket layered over a shirt and vest, teamed with leather gloves and the quirky sunglasses. What an unusual and interesting mix!!!It's a nice change to see someone not dressed in designer head to toe, instead adding their own personal sense of zany and style. I'm inspired.

Hey check this out, came across this rock-chic top whilst sorting clothes for a shoot in office. An unusual choice of embellishment it's adorned with paper clips, by Indian designer Varun Sardana. Cool no!!!!

A New Season

Balmain Fall 09
Gwyneth Paltrow
kate moss
jennifer connelly
Fall/Winter 09 is here and my favourite trend is The Shoulder. Balmania has hit us, with the strong shoulder making an appearance in most designer's collections. But I’m absolutely in love with Balmain’s jackets and disco metallic dresses with structured shoulders; it’s surely the best buy of the season. Christophe Decarnin has been in the spotlight more so since Spring 09 and the celeb brigade can’t get enough of him, with every A-list star sporting his creations.

burberry again

Emma Watson seems to have enchanted everyone and has suddenly catapulted to major style icon and darling of the designers. She’s pretty much all over, everywhere now! Take a look at some of her sartorial choices. I like her in the UK ELLE July cover, a nice change from her usual put together grown up ladylike style.

the beckhams

David Beckham was the only one in the Armani innerwear campaign and now he is joined by his wife in this sizzling campaign. I can't decide whether I relly like it or not. See for yourselves.

madonna again

Marc Jacobs has teamed up with Madonna for the second time for Louis Vuitton's 2009/10 Fall/winter campaign. And honestly after their stunning spring/summer campaign this was a big let down! The clothes are frumpy, the accessories dont stand out and all in all Madonna is really looking like a plastic bunny doll. Quite blah!

blazer blues

The boyfriend blazer is my absolute favourite item of clothing. You can pretty much wear it with everything, it's super versatile. Over your skinny jeans, shorts or your summmer dress, always adds an edge to your look, plus its comfort with style. But thanks to the lovely weather here in Bombay you can't really wear it that often. Now look what I found on, they have got their version, with the Jersey Boyfriend Blazer. Jersey is light and perfect for our humid, hot weather. So you can look stylish without worrying about sweating like a pig now.

Burberry's classic trench is something you can never go wrong with. And their degrade trench from SS09 is what I particularly like. Check out Kate, Anne and Alexa sporting it. I think Kate wears it the best. What say!

quirky bags

You know how sometimes you never end up using the innumerable handbags you have, as you are too lazy to transfer the countless essentials in it to another bag. I too end up carrying my black tote everywhere as I just could'nt bother moving all those million things in my bag. Well now that's not such a problem anymore..thanks to bag liners from Now you can keep all your stuff in the bag lining and just shift the lining from one bag to another. Voila...Life made simpler. Also quirkybags has bags for every purpose you could imagine. Their cosmetic cases in unusal prints are cute too. Nice!!!

bold baubels

Justin Gunita's jewellery for Suberversive is on my wish-list. He is also this year's CFDA Award winner for Accessory Design. Love his chunky necklaces full of metal chains, pearls, and gems and some adorned with even skeletons. Perfect accessory for my LBD. Check his collection on

my favourite at resort 2010

Among all the resort collections, I absolutely love THAKOON's collection the most. I wish I could own each and every piece from this collection. A lovely mix- of cool seperates, bright printed draped dresses and pastel crushed pieces, its got something for everyone. Also like the shoes.
