fashion week madness

anand kabra

Hello helloo...i've been away at lakme fashion week, so my posts are going to be short spurts...but there are a few designers that showed promise. Day 1 designer Anand Kabra was a clear winner. It's like he finally evolved, his collection was the saving grace of day 1. I liked his summer jackets in neutral tones layered over short dresses . Day 2 Nachiket Barve finally showed signs of moving away from his previous collections, showing soft layers in a myraid of beautiful colours and textures, mosaic like applique on dresses and jackets is what caught my fancy. Arjun Saluja did an extension of his fall line with skeletal abstract prints and his pleated shirts and pencil skirts. All in all still awaiting to see something outstanding. Must mention newbie Paromita Banerjee, her sheer over solid prints dresses and checked jackets is what I want for my summer wardrobe.

spring update

Spring/Summer 2010 is here, and making a start at New York Fashion week is designer Prabal Gurung. This Singapore born, Nepalese designer started his fashion career in New Delhi, studying at NIFT and working with Manish Arora. And now he's already making heads turn at NY Fashion week with his fall collection. Inspired by gift wrappings and packaging the collection is full of luxurious cocktail dresses in satin drapes adorned with pretty bows. A well edited, collection, very precise and Prabal surely delivers the goods with this one.
